Front 242 released their Headhunter single in October 1988 to coincide with the release of their new album Front By Front. Wax Trax! Records released the single in the USA with separate releases in Sweden, Germany, Belgium/the rest of Europe and Canada. Headhunter quickly became a fan favourite and helped push big sales for the new album. A video was filmed for the single (of version 2.0) around Brussels' urban landscapes, including the Atomium, by Anton Corbijn. Although released on multiple formats of the time (vinyl 7"/12", CD single) interestingly Headhunter was also released on CD Video single. CD Video was an alternate name for LaserDisc and the CD Video format specifically offered a gold 5" disc option that could hold one video and around 25 minutes of music - perfect for the Headhunter single and video. Wax Trax! Records released it in the USA as a NTSC video version and Red Rhino Europe (RRE) released it in Europe as a PAL format version. This was the only CD Video released by Wax Trax! Records! Unfortunately, this CD Video is not currently in the CyberNoise archive :-( our boss, Graham Needham, has been "hunting" for it for almost 30 years.
